The magnificent front hall has plenty of seats, wood-burner and a grand piano. The Castle was built by James Hunter, and its architect was David Hamilton who also designed Dunoon Castle. The bedrooms are very comfortable and all have en suite showers. The building has some magnificent features, beautiful ceilings, carved doors and a superb staircase. There are a numerous spacious public rooms. The drawing-room has a bar area and double doors onto the small drawing-room and the two rooms open out into one very large room, perfect for weddings or other gatherings. Outside, the gardens have old trees, lawns and the views across the Loch are beautiful. The Castle can be reached from Glasgow Airport in approximately 45 minutes by car and guests usually arrive via the ferry which departs from Gourock and crosses the Firth of Clyde, a very romantic and atmospheric start to their stay at Hafton. There are many local activities, golf, swimming, clay pigeon shooting, sailing, fishing and quad biking to name but a few. Dunoon itself is the home of the Cowal Highland Gathering.
